How it works
Add your TAR file. MimiFile checks the format, converts it to ZIP, and provides a temporary download when the result is ready.
Convert a TAR archive to ZIP when a desktop, sharing or upload workflow expects ZIP instead of a tar archive.
TAR → ZIP
Drag and drop, paste a file, or browse your device.
Files are temporary and deleted automatically.
Limits: 90 MB per file · 128 MB total per batch.

TAR and ZIP package files differently. ZIP is broadly supported and normally compresses entries, while TAR can preserve Unix-oriented metadata that may not have an identical ZIP representation.
Current source limit : 90 MB per file. Up to 10 files can be submitted in a batch, subject to the global batch ceiling.
ZIP opens natively in many desktop and web environments and is often easier to share with users who do not work with Unix archive tools.
Permissions, ownership, symbolic links and other archive metadata can be represented differently or not preserved. Keep the TAR source when those details matter.
The result is produced as ZIP (application/zip). Features unsupported by the destination format cannot be preserved.
Use this when a service, device or workflow accepts ZIP but your source file is TAR.
The downloaded file uses ZIP. Check the result if the source contains transparency, animation, embedded fonts, metadata or other format-specific features.
