How it works
Add your Microsoft Word 97–2003 file. MimiFile checks the format, converts it to OpenDocument Text, and provides a temporary download when the result is ready.
Convert an older Microsoft Word DOC into editable OpenDocument Text when an ODF-based editor or archive workflow expects ODT.
DOC → ODT
Drag and drop, paste a file, or browse your device.
Files are temporary and deleted automatically.
Limits: 90 MB per file · 128 MB total per batch.
Add your Microsoft Word 97–2003 file. MimiFile checks the format, converts it to OpenDocument Text, and provides a temporary download when the result is ready.
Moving from legacy DOC to ODT changes both the container and document model. Check fonts, fields, lists, tables, pagination and embedded objects before replacing the source.
Current source limit : 90 MB per file. Up to 10 files can be submitted in a batch, subject to the global batch ceiling.
Microsoft Word 97–2003 is accepted here as application/msword. The current source-file limit is 90 MB.
The result is produced as OpenDocument Text (application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text). Features unsupported by the destination format cannot be preserved.
Use this when a service, device or workflow accepts OpenDocument Text but your source file is Microsoft Word 97–2003.
Microsoft Word 97–2003 and OpenDocument Text can represent document structure differently. MimiFile imports the Microsoft Word 97–2003 source through its isolated office-processing pipeline and writes a new OpenDocument Text result rather than merely renaming the extension.
Microsoft Word 97–2003 is a formatted word-processing document. It can contain paragraphs, styles, tables, page settings, fields, images and other layout-oriented objects.
OpenDocument Text is intended for editable word-processing content. It can preserve rich structure, but application-specific fields, styles, tracked changes, fonts or embedded objects may map differently.
When moving between editable word-processing formats, compare page breaks, styles, lists, tables, headers/footers, fields and embedded objects. A richer destination does not restore information already absent from the source. The conversion is performed with an isolated headless LibreOffice profile. Features that have no equivalent in the destination format can be changed, flattened or omitted.
Check fonts, pagination, headings, lists, tables, headers/footers, fields, comments or tracked changes, images and embedded objects.
The downloaded file uses OpenDocument Text. Check the result if the source contains transparency, animation, embedded fonts, metadata or other format-specific features.
